I was a part of a fashion show to benefit the Kathy-Keegan Cummings Scholarship Fund at The Mill Falls Inns and Marketplace. The evening was full of fun I wore 6 outfits and represented Adornments and Lady of the Lake. The other fashions included Creative Clothing Co and Northern Air Fashions. It was a great night, I was able to network with more people from the lakes region and had a fun time.

Veterans Day Food Drive November 11, 2008

Ryan Sylvia, the President of Rotaract, and I drove around campus to almost every dorm picking up boxes filled with donations from the UNH Food Drive. Rotaract heads up a Food Drive every year to raise awareness of hunger and to help support the New Hampshire Food Bank and The Cornucopia Food Pantry. It was a successful year, judging on how full my car was! The Cornucopia Food Pantry Pantry provides food and other support to UNH students, staff, faculty and their families. To learn more about it check out their website: http://www.cornucopia.unh.edu/food_pantry.html. My sophomore year I served as the volunteer coordinator for the Cornucopia Food Pantry. I also spent about 4 hours every Friday in the pantry or on the premises to make sure the community was able to use the pantry.

Exeter Area Interfaith Crop Walk October 26, 2008 Raises $17,000

I was able to participate in the Exeter Area Interfaith Community Crop walk the second year in a row! I was asked to speak about Hunger in New Hampshire and in America and also to perform an inspirational piece. I was able to sing the song "More Love" by the Dixie Chicks. This song focuses on taking a step back from our busy lives and taking the time to reach out to those in need, help others, and love more. With more love we can work with each other and not against each other. I am so glad that I was a part of an event that raised $17,000! Congratulations to the wonderful team who put this event on and a special thanks goes to Paul Montana (St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry), Andrea (Crop Walk organizer), and Dwight. Your hard work has really helped our community and has impacted world hunger on a whole.

Check out the article from seacoastonline:

Crop Walk raises $17K

The Exeter Area Interfaith Crop Walk was Oct. 26 with more than 200 walkers demonstrating community compassion. Through this event, participants walked and raised almost $17,000 to support the hunger-fighting efforts of Church World Service, both locally and around the world.
In 2008, local food pantries will receive around $4,000 to aid fellow area residents in need, and some $13,000 will make possible the global work of Church World Service. Local agencies benefiting from the Crop Walk include Exeter Congregational Church Food Pantry, Feed My Lambs, Newfields Congregational Church Food Pantry, Pilgrim UCC of Brentwood, Kingston Food Pantry and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Area churches participating include the Christ Episcopal Church, Exeter Congregational Church, Exeter United Methodist Church, Faith Lutheran Church, First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter, Greenland UCC, Kensington Congregational Church, Newfields Community Church, North Hampton UCC, Pilgrim UCC Brentwood-Kingston, North Hampton UCC, St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the Stratham Community Church.

Students from Exeter High School, Phillips Exeter Academy and Sanborn Regional High School and the North Hampton Junior Girl Scout Troop 675 also participated.

Miss Greater Plaistow October 18, 2008

Right after the Mount Washington Cruise I went over to see Miss Greater Plaistow! This is a brand new local for the Miss NH Scholarship Program, congratulations to Krystal Miller on her first crown! Also, I congratulate Shanna Pinet and Jess Plante for putting on a wonderful show.

I was very excited that they took the time to ask each of the local title holders what we do for our platforms. I love the opportunity to talk about my platform. I volunteer at least 4 hours every week for my platform. Thank you for taking the time to ask us what we do in the community!
